Karak International Oil (KIO) is committed to helping the Jordanian government reach its goal of energy self-sufficiency by transforming its commercial oil shale deposits into liquid products and electrical power.

KIO is employing proven Alberta Taciuk Process (ATP) technology to convert Jordan’s abundant oil shale reserves into a much-needed source of indigenous energy.

KIO is following international best practice in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and has embraced the Equator Principles, a financial industry benchmark for assessing social and environmental risks, the UN Global Compact and the International Labour Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work as a starting point.


Karak International Oil expects to create around 300 direct jobs in the first phase of its operations.
